Antigone - Creons Fatal Flaw      A master crafter and innovator of the Greek tragedy, Sophoclesinsightful plays have held their value through pop out myriad time periodsand societies.  Through the use of common literary techniques, Sophocleswas able to enunciate themes and ideas that reflect all of humankind.  Onparticular idea was that Sophocles believed that hubris is destructive and leave eventually lead to ones demise.         Creon, the proud king of Thebes has such a black-market flaw.  His hubrisalienates Teiresias, Haimon, and his people.  Teiresias attempts toexplain to Creon the severity of Creons actions, but Creon only shunsTeiresias.  No matter how starchy the signs, Creon would not yield,(Scene 5, Line 47).  Creons hubris prevents him from recognizing his self-destructive behavior.  Instead, he accuses Teiresias of disloyalty andsuccumbing to bribery.  He feels Teiresias has sold o ut (Scene 5, Line65) and that Creon was the butt for th...
